'DOUBLE CROSS’ Wins Double At The GMAs, Sets To Premiere The 6th Of Feb.

The must watch Ghanaian romantic movie - DOUBLE CROSS recently won two awards at the just concluded Ghana Movie Awards held at the Accra International Conference Centre on the 30th of December, 2014.

The movie which had laudable reviews from movie enthusiasts and pundits alike, and had top notch celebrated award winning actors and actresses such as Ama K. Abebrese, John Dumelo, Adjetey Anang, Jasmine Baroudi, Paulina Oduro and veteran actor Samuel Odoi-Mensah, won Best Cinematography and Best Make-Up & Hair Styling.

With the premiere of this movie coming up soon here in Ghana in the month of love, the public are set to see the beauty of excellence as the 6th of February, 2015, is a date at the Silverbirds Cinemas both at the Accra and Weija Mall as well as the West Hills Mall.

The intriguing story goes thus, Effie Howard’s (Ama K. Abebrese) life is dramatically turned upside down when her fiancé Ben Boateng (Adjetey Anang) is convicted and sentenced for a crime he did not commit. Determined to prove his innocence; she carried out her own investigation and finds the actual robber; Danny Frimpong (John Dumelo).

She threatens him but offers him a deal; to rob the bank again with similar methods. They are successful in the robbing the bank, Effie now sets her sights on a jewellery warehouse and she wants Danny to rob it. With a lot of jewellery and money at stake, each one of them tries to outwit each other with medleys of smart thinking as they plan and execute the robberies, but no amount of careful planning or expertise can prepare them for the dangerous enemy, an enemy Effie least expected and never saw coming with surprising twist.

The movie is directed by one of the prolific directors of our time, Pasacal Aka and produced by D R Kufuor and Ama K Abebrese.

Asamoah Gyan Announces Temporal Retirement From Music Career

Talented Ghanaian skipper and striker, Asamoah Gyan, has announced a suspension of his music career till he retires from active football.

The award winning footballer and musician was featured by his good friend, Theophilus Tagoe aka Castro De Destroyer.

With the moniker, Baby Jet Monko, the Black Stars Captain quickly rose to fame with the release of the hit song ‘African Girls’ ahead of the 2010 World Cup.

The song managed to win the collaboration of the year award at the Ghana Music Awards and this intrinsically motivated the footballer who has a passion for music to do another collaboration with Castro-‘Do the Dance’.

The Al Ain striker collaborated with kofi kinaata and Castro again to release another hit single which they titled ‘Odo Pa’. But the Al Ain ace says he is taking an extensive break from his music career after his friend Castro went missing last July.

In a statement on his website, the striker revealed

“Sometimes at my leisure time I try to write something. I’ve got passion for it also despite what happened to our friend [Castro]. I felt like I have to just stay out a bit maybe until the end of my career and after football try to do something with my music.

"I was very down when it [Castro’s disappearance] happened so I just try to stay out. He is the only one I said to myself if I had to do any collaboration, it had to be just Castro.

"So now that Castro is not around I don’t think there is the need to do it. But I might do something after my career.”

Gyan says he will instead be looking to invest in unearthing some budding musical talents in Ghana.

“I am just thinking to support some artistes, to support them but I have not yet decided who exactly to help.

"My relationship with Castro was great, we were like brothers. So when I decide to help any artiste it is never going to be like what me and Castro were – talking about our relationship. It is just to help the artiste.”

Gyan is currently training with the Black Stars in Spain and has assured Ghanaians of a good show during the Africa Cup in Equatorial Guinea.

I Wanted To Become A Medical Doctor But...- Van Vicker

Liberian-Ghanaian actor Van Vicker, a married father of two recently revealed his regret.

In an exclusive chat with the actor, he talked about his Dutch dad and Ghanaian-Liberian mother and how he grew up in Monrovia, Holland and Ghana.

Van Vicker said his only regret right now is his inability to study at the University after his secondary school education because his plan was to become a medical doctor.

In his words:

“I wanted to be a doctor, but never had a chance because I never went to the university after my secondary education, which is one thing I regret. Right now, I am taking some marketing courses at the University.”
