My Catchy Song Titles Make Me Stand Tall Among All These Musicians – Guru

(GRAPHIC SHOWBIZ) – If one is asked to mention one unique thing about Guru’s songs, what may readily come to mind is the catchy titles he gives to his works. Very often, they tend to become household terms.
Lapaz Toyota, Boys Abre, Obonsam Ani are some of the titles of his songs that have instantly become terms that have been used by majority of Ghanaians.
Speaking to the Graphic Showbiz last Tuesday, Guru said he chooses his titles carefully to make him stand out among his peers.
“I always want to be different, that is why the lyrics and titles of my songs are different from my peers. I do well to bring out a catchy term which appeals to people. Terms like Lapaz Toyota, Boys Abre are but a few examples.
I believe as an artiste, you need to be creative to come out with something extraordinary and I always make it happen because I think deep” Guru added.
Throwing light on how he comes up with such titles, Guru said “it may sound strange but I came by almost all the titles of my songs in church. Anytime I communicate with God at church, I come out with these interesting terms which I eventually use as titles of my songs”
Guru went on to explain that sometimes, the title of his songs may sound controversial but what people should listen to is the lyrics which is more important.
“When I released Boys Abre Alkayida, people said I was promoting terrorism but I was rather encouraging the youth who are going through hardship to know that no situation is permanent and things shall be well with them one day.
Guru, whose latest single, Obonsam Ani, has been well received is working on his third album.

“Amen Is My Craziest Hit Ever” – Yaa Pono

Tema rapper Yaa Pono has been in this game for long but according to him, until he released his single ‘Amen’, he had not had any crazy hit. The song ‘Amen’ has received more airplay which according to him is the craziest hit song ever in his career. Pono recently released the video to the song .
Kisua.com reports an interview they had with him below.
“Amen is everywhere. We’ve travelled 17 hours in the past two days and performed to crowds of over 5,000 people. This is my craziest hit ever!”
Yaa Pono is clearly pleased about the reception to his latest anthem. Released late last year and inspired by his performs at Fela Kuti’s The New Africa Shrine, he’s just released the video for Amen, which sees the Ghanaian rapper dressed like a pastor and eyeing up the ladies in a nightclub.
Born in Tema, he released his first mixtape The Psalms in 2007, signed to Ghana’s respected Pidgin Music in 2009 and has garnered attention for his witty Akan freestyles and diverse sound spanning hip hop, afrobeats, dancehall and rock. In 2011 he collaborated with Efya (who appears with him here, wearing KISUA) on the hit Good Morning and his other big tunes include Bayla Trap and Tare Tare. But despite his solo success, Yaa Pono says he’s nothing without his collective, the Uptown Energy Crew.
“We started out together when we were in school. We’re family, we’re blood. It’s not a paper thing we sign but we all have equal rights in the crew and we all hold the stage down. We’ll never split.”
Yaa Pono is currently finishing up his second album Sea Blue with his crew very much in tow.
“Most of the songs relate to success and coming from the ghetto to become a musician. Before in Ghana, music was more about money than talent. Here comes a time when it’s about talking to the people and letting them know that you are a believer,” he says.
Amen to that.

I Don't Feel Embarrassed At All - Sarkodie's 'Mystery' Girl Speaks

For now, it’s no news that Benedicta Ofosu is the lady walked on stage at the Ghana Meets Naija Concert to ‘’worship’’ Sarkodie. She fell prostrate in-front of Sarkodie and held his feet.

This act got the crowd wondering what exactly was happening.

Within a twinkle of an eye, Sarkodie hugged Benedicta but after that harmless hug which got the audience screaming, Benedicta could not stand on her feet. She had to be held and helped off the stage by a hugely-built man.

For a brief moment, Sarkodie stopped performing and wiped off his tears as he just could not stand the love shown him. He was simply overwhelmed.

However, days after the event, industry players and music lovers are not too sure if what happened on the night was staged or real.

In this week’s edition of your favorite Flex Newspaper, the headline story captioned ‘’ Sarkodie’s Miraculous Act- Staged or Real?’’ ,Samuel Baah posed the question of whether the act was real or stage and to find out what exactly happened on the night, Pluzz 89.9 fm’s A.M Pluzz hosted Benedicta Ofosu live in the studio this morning .

Watch what Benedicta did on stage:

The moment Sarkodie hugged Benedicta on stage

According to her, when Sarkodie was performing on stage, she was so much enjoying it that she had to be dancing throughout the performance.

Using her own words, she said ‘’I was feeling him so much ‘’.Benedicta, then with her cousins, thought that it would be appropriate for her to let Sarkodie know how she was feeling so she left her cousins and move straight towards the stage as Sarkodie performed. She had to force her way through the crowd before she got to Sarkodie on stage.

When asked by Sammy Flex, host of A.M Pluzz if she feels embarrassed, Benedicta stressed that she does not feel embarrassed the least but rather feels so happy.

For her, she did not know why she was moving to the stage and touching Sarkodie would have been enough for her but getting a hug instead was a gesture she never expected and it was that gesture that got her really overwhelmed .She noted that she would be happy for an opportunity to meet and have a chat with Sarkodie.

She revealed that Kwabena Kwabena is another artiste she loves so much. However when Benedicta was asked if she would love to date Sarkodie, she replied in the negative. Benedicta Ofosu is a self –employed marketing executive.

I Miss Wutah Kobby - Afriyie Confesses

Afriyie

Kwadwo Osei Afriyie, popularly known as Afriyie of Wutah fame has confessed to missing his former group mate, Daniel Morris (Wutah Kobby), four years after parting ways.
The group separated just when they gained prominence on the Ghanaian music scene with several hit songs including 'Kotosa' which enjoyed heavy radio rotations.
There have been several calls for them to come back together especially when their solo music careers have not made that impact as it did when they were together.
Speaking in an interview on the Cosmopolitan Mix on Joy FM with Mamavi Owusu Aboagye Friday, Afriyie said he is "hopeful" the group will reunite, confessing that he misses his former partner.
"I'm human, I've got feelings and I've known Kobby my entire life. We grew up together, he is like a brother from another mother."
He refuted reports that there is tension between them stating that "the people around you always generate the tension but there isn't any tension at all."
Commenting on the split, Afriyie explained that: "It was bound to happen, things happen for a reason" and that, "Individually we are still trying to reach that top that we've [been] aiming for."
He assured music fans and Ghanaians that, there is still hope of the group because "Wutah is not dead, Wutah is still alive."
Wutah, which means fire in Hausa, came into the limelight when they placed second to Praye during the maiden edition of the Nescafe Africa Revelation music competition in Accra in 2004.
Their debut album, 'Anamontuo', with songs like 'Adonko', 'Gossy Gander' and 'Big Dreams' earned them eleven Ghana Music Award nominations including the 'Most Popular Song of the Year', 'Album of the Year', and 'Artiste of the Year'.
Their track 'Big Dreams' won the Reggae song of the year at the 2006 edition of the Ghana Music Awards.
Afriyie's song 'Everlasting Love' received a nomination for the 'Record of the Year' category at the 2014 edition of the Ghana Music Awards.

AK Songstress Announces Official Date For New Single (DANGEROUS) ft 4x4

As we bolt down our good furniture for the explosive over her spectacular and energetic performance at the Ghana Meet Naija just some few nights back, AK Songstress has revealed plans for a new single featuring 4x4.

AK Songstress has announced the official release date of her new single, ‘Dangerous’, which will arrive on radio and streets in the coming days, precisely Saturday, 31st May. 2014.

The danceable tune (lifted from the forthcoming album) and features award winning group 4x4, showcases a versatile, more reflective side to the Dancehall Queen’s personality. The song was co-written by AK and Fresh Prince and produced by Danny Beat.

Both AK and Fresh Prince are hopeful of sharing the news and cover art for the new single with their fans via Twitter and Instagram this week. Describing the single, AK said: "It sounds like its title, Dangerous. It’s a banger. It is going to get the whole country dancing.

Although Paradise Entertainment has not given AK's forthcoming album a release date, management assures that the studio album will be a blast and worth waiting for the right time.

It Took 8 Months But Eventually Muntari Hit My Soft Spot - Menaye

Menaye Muntari says it took eight months to get a relationship going with Black Stars midfielder Sulley Ali Muntari.

The model, cum entrepreneur who took her turn on Bola Ray's Personality Profile show, Thursday said she had no clue who Sulley was when they met.

With no interest in football it was always going to be difficult to get a relationship going, Menaye hinted.

Through the intermediary or 'betweener' role by Ama K Abebrese, Sulley Muntari gradually warmed his way into the delicate heart of the woman who had won the Miss Universe (Ghana) model in 2004.

"He didn't say a word when he first met me. I didn't know who he was. He was talking to my cousin-Ama.

When Ama tossed the idea of getting her hooked to Sulley, Menaye Donkor said: "No No I am not interested. A soccer player for what? No, no way! It took eight months" and after persistent calls to Ama for a relationship to begin, she confessed with a blush while adoring the personality of the ace Ghana star.

"Sulley love for kids. He is such a kind hearted person and how he won me over was his love for my family. He is just kindhearted, and he hit me where my soft spot was." she indicated but "on the pitch he is bull dog."

Asked about some of the rumours she had heard about herself, the sweet looking Menaye lamented rumours about she using black magic to win the heart of Sulley Ali Muntari.

Even though it was laughable in the beginning, Menaye admitted such atrocious rumours hurt because she is as human as everybody.

The philanthropist said she used to manage Sulley Ali Muntari at the initial stages of their relationship, but it was always going to be difficult shuffling business and personal matters. As a result, a company had been hired to do that job.

Demystifying assertions that it was costly to hang around with her, Menaye said on the contrary she was actually a "cheap date."

With a little rice with shito and some small 'creamless' salad, she was good to go, she stated.

The consummate businesswoman said she would love to have two kids with her husband Sulley, a dream they both share.

With her husband preparing for the World Cup in Brazil, Menaye said she is boarding the next flight to Brazil to support Sulley Ali Muntari.

It Was A Very Emotional Moment For Me – Sarkodie On ‘Mystery’ Girl

All over the world, renowned performers are sometimes confronted by zealous and admiring fans who weep, break down and even faint on seeing their idols perform.

Last Saturday, Sarkodie, the “Obidiponbede”, unable to contain one such emotional demonstration ended up weeping himself right in front of the large audience at the Ghana Meets Naija concert held at the Accra International Conference Centre.

The show had travelled over halfway into its run and Ghana’s reigning Best Rapper was in full flight delivering his share of goodies to patrons. Sporting an all black costume and black shades to complement his dapper appearance, the “Rapperholic” was killing it.

Then out of the blue, a female fan obviously overwhelmed to see her “idol” in real person could not just stand the excitement of seeing Sarkodie on stage. She jumped onto the stage and flung herself at his feet.

Not even the security guards on duty could get the lady who was holding the feet of Sarkodie off the stage.

When Sarkodie acknowledged her presence and gave her a hug, the “number one” fan appeared to have fallen into a trance, an incident that drew a lot of cheers from the crowd.

In a reaction to the incident, Sarkodie confirmed to Showbiz last Tuesday that indeed, he was emotionally overcome by the lady’s gesture,

“It was a very emotional and touching moment for me. For a moment, I reflected on the great influence my brand was having on people and I was amazed to see how God can use ordinary people like me to impact the lives of others through my music. It was a very humbling experience for me”, he said.

He said that even though a similar incident happened during his Rapperholic tour last year, he was particularly touched by this incident because he never expected it at a concert like Ghana Meets Naija.

“I was lost for words when I saw somebody touch my feet. I just couldn’t believe it and didn’t know what to do at the time but to hug her.

Speaking on the feat as the only Ghanaian artiste to have earned BET nominations this year, the Illuminati singer said that it was an amazing feeling to know that what you do back home is being appreciated worldwide.

“I don’t see it as Sarkodie’s victory but every hardworking Ghanaian artiste. It has always been my dream that Ghanaian music will be accepted in an international arena” he stated.

Competing against the likes of Nigeria’s Davido, Sarkodie said that everyone in his category has worked hard to merit a nomination but if would be awesome if he emerges the winner when the event comes off next month.

As per information gathered from a source, Stonebwoy’s performance at the Hot Fiesta Show was indeed splendid, “he is a great live performer, and patrons were highly filled and thrilled by his performance.”

Speaking to his manager, Karl Gidiglo confirmed that due to some technical hitches the Germany show could not come on and “also at Elephant Man’s show, Stonebwoy was billed to perform along with DJ Dynamite but was cancelled due to uncontrollable reasons.”

“He will also be performing in Italy on the ‘Dancehall Xplosion’ show with C-Moe, Maxis DG, Chiki and Pitty as supporting artistes at the Backstage Club, Parma on June 7 before coming back home in the second week of the month”, he affirmed.

“Although the show in Germany was cancelled, I went to Studio Kino to record two songs with award winning DJ and Producer Jonire Wind alias DJ Dynamite on the ‘Pretty P***Y Riddim’ which will be released later in the year”, Stonebwoy said in an interview with GhanaWeb Entertainment Desk.

The ‘Pretty P***Y Riddim’ produced by Trifecta have had various versions by top Jamaican dancehall musicians including Beenie Man, Assasin (Agent Sasco), Elephant Man, Charly Black, Demarco, Aidonia, and I Octane, to mention a few; making Stonebwoy the only African and Ghanaian to have officially recorded his version on the riddim.

Update: Shatta Wale's Manager Bulldog Granted Bail

Nana Asiama Hanson (Bulldog)
Nana Asiama Hanson (Bulldog), manager of dancehall artiste Shatta Wale who is standing trial for allegedly murdering Fennec Okyere, a music producer has been granted bail Tuesday.
Bulldog, who is also the CEO of Bull Haus Entertainment, was picked up by police on May 15 in Kokomlemle, a suburb of Accra, as a prime suspect in the murder of Fennec Okyere who was murdered at his residence on March 13 by unknown assailants. The deceased was the manager of hiplife artiste, Kwaw Kesse.
ASP Joseph Benefoh Darkwa, the Public Relations Officer of the Police CID, had told Joy News Bulldog had sent threatening messages to Fennec prior to his death.
Bulldog made his first appearance in court on Monday, May 19 and was remanded into police custody to appear in court on June 2.
The prosecution asked permission to remand the suspect to enable the police continue with their investigations. According to the prosecution, his detention would go a long way to assist the police's investigations due to the sensitive nature of the case.
But lawyer for Bulldog, Gary Nimako objected to calls for his client to be remanded in police custody.
He had argued that the charges leveled against his client – conspiracy to commit murder and committing murder – cannot hold because the prosecution has not been able to link his client to Fennec’s murder.
Lawyer for Bulldog confirmed to Myjoyonline.com that his client has been granted bail: "He (Bulldog) has been granted bail."
Myjoyonline.com has gathered that, lawyers for Bulldog took the matter to the Human Rights Court after the District Magistrate Court refused to grant him bail on May 19.
The Human Rights Court granted him bail Tuesday on the basis that the facts as the police presented and upon which they were holding Bulldog are "speculative" and do not link him to the charges that have been preferred against him.
On that basis, the court ruled that, Bulldog deserves his freedom and should not have been held even for a day.
The police ought to have granted him police enquiry bail, the court added.

Knii Lante Launches "TRUE FEELINGS" Album May 29, In Jamaica

This week, two-time winner of Ghana Music Awards’ Best Male Vocal Performance, Knii Lante, is back in Kingston, Jamaica; the home of reggae and dancehall, to launch his second album ‘True Feelings’.

In 2012, the multiple nominee and this year’s winner of the ‘Best Music Video’ at the Ghana Music Awards was in Jamaica to record at the Grafton Studios where he was co-produced by Mickie Benett and Dean Fraser. Now he is ready to share his amazing gift with the world.

The 12 track album features Cherine Anderson, Queen Ifrica, G Blunt and many other first rate Jamaican musicians.

The album also includes songs that were recorded in Accra by Joseph Amoah (Springboard Studio) and others produced in Kenya by Rebel Liberation Sounds.

Mostly recorded in Kingston, Jamaica at Grafton Studios, the album was partly co-produced by Mickie Bennet and Dean Fraser, Joseph Amoah (Springboard Studio, Accra) and Rebel Liberation Sounds.

The launch will come off on the night of the 29th May at the popular and highly rated Red Bones Blues Café, where Knii Lante will be backed by the legendary drummer, Desi Jones and his seven member band as he performs songs live from ‘True Feelings’ for the first time before an audience of patrons, industry people and exclusive guests. He will perform together with Queen Ifrica and G Blunt.

When asked why what informs his choice of Jamiaca, Knii Lante said, “I chose Jamaica for the first leg of the launch because it is the birthplace of reggae, and also to further give meaning to my pan-African leanings, a launch in Jamaica is in essence the same as launching in Ghana or Nigeria or any part of Africa as we are the same people with a common history and destiny,” the next African rising star explains why he chose a Caribbean Island for the launch.

Knii Lante is being supported by Grace Kennedy Foods, Don Green’s Sunsplash Productions and Deluge Entertainment.

Samini Shares His Views On Polygamy

Samini Samini Sam
Dancehall singer, Samini, last Friday made public his thoughts on polygamy when he stated that, that sort of marriage is a good cultural practice that should be upheld.

Speaking on the Delay Show, the singer who was sometime reported as having two wives, said polygamous men in his view are responsible men, who are not ashamed to take responsibility of their children and wives. Such attitude, according to him, prevents broken homes and fosters marital harmony.

He went further to admit his involvement with two women at a particular time, but said the relationship had to be called off due to lack of understanding among them. He is currently married to one of them and has four children.

The artiste attributed the experiences in his childhood in Northern Ghana and the culture of his ethnic group as the basis for his beliefs on marriage, adding that there could only be harmony in a polygamous marriage, if the parties involved understood each other.

Meanwhile, Samini has also added his voice to the #BringBackOurGirlsCampaign# via his release of a new joint. In it, he calls for prayers to God to save Africa and the Universe while urging that “we are one family and we must live in harmony, so bring back our girls today and let’s live as one family”.

My role In Movies Affects Me – John Dumelo

Ghana’s top actor, John Dumelo, has made it known that he sometimes gets affected by the role he plays in movies.

He made reference to a particular movie in which he acted as an aggressive husband. “There was one time I was to act as an aggressive and abusive husband towards Nigerian actress Rita Dominic. I was given a script to act like an aggressive husband who was supposed to be beating his wife every day. The character had so much impact on me that by the time the shooting was complete – I became so aggressive. It took me some days to come to myself,’ he revealed.

These occurrences seem to have strengthened the actor who has a passion for acting. The actor who was in the company of his colleague, Majid Michael, went on to reveal his challenges as a new actor.

“There were lots of criticisms, and in the first movie I casted, I was paid Ghc10.00, but because I know what I was looking for I did not complain. I have not been to any acting school, but because of the passion, determination and support I got from people, I was able to make it to the top.”

The handsome actor has already started giving back to society as he has opened an acting school named John Dumelo Film Academy to nurture young talents.

He further revealed his dream to act in Hollywood should an opportunity arise. He expressed the belief that Ghana can reach a Hollywood status if the movie industry could be developed to attain more international recognition.

Stonebwoy Says That "Music Is Not Just About Noise Making"

Stoneboyboy
“After the just ended 2014 VGMA, I immediately released a masterpiece titled ‘CantCool’ produced by Richie to rather keep my fans and loved ones busy as there are more good songs and pending projects to be executed instead of arguing and worrying about me not winning the Dancehall/Reggae Song of the Year”, Stonebwoy indicated.

According to the BhimNation leader, he believes Ghanaians can attest that his kind of music is not the stagnant type, “if you love my kind of music and you know dancehall and reggae music; and you are a good music listener, you know music is not just about the hype but what it comes with, that is how come songs on my first album are being played to date.”

The Afro-dancehallist further noted that they (BhimNation team) have a whole lot of work to be done as efforts and preparations are being made towards his second album hailed as ‘Necessary Evil’ with which five songs along with their videos including ‘Not Again’, ‘Kunaani’, ‘Submarine’, ‘Happiness’ featuring Jamaican Superstar, Jah Vinci and ‘Run Go’, (a Kenyan production) that have seen many artistes including a Jamaican artiste rhyme on the rhythm has been released since the beginning of the year.

He noted that ‘CantCool’ video has just been done shooting and he is with the hope of shooting other videos including ‘Ex-girlfriend’ featuring Mugeez which was his first track released in 2014.

Stonebwoy further noted that the vision of BMG for the year 2014 is still in progress as per their plans that are gradually being achieved with quite a huge number of encouragements from their fan base and love ones which keeps growing by day.

“Meaning aside everything, people look up to me to be releasing more good music although it is in recent times attention is being given to Dancehall and Reggae music, it is not just about the noise and that is what we have been working on across the globe especially, Jamaica”, he added.

The BMG artiste is billed to perform on Afro-Dance Festival headlined by Iyanya at The Sand in Amsterdam on May 31 as well as other minor shows in Hamburg and Italy just in the course of the month.

However, EP of Necessary Evil have been released on iTunes and other tracks coming up will be finally fixed on the album which will be all set for release later in the year.

Lawrence Asiamah Hanson aka Bull Dog Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Bull Haus entertainment and manager of popular dancehall artiste Shatta Wale appeared in court on Monday in connection with the murder of the late Fennec Okyere.

The Accra Central Magistrate Court presided over by Her Lordship Mavis Nyamaa Quanoo has adjourned hearing of the case involving Bulldog and the state.

The court remanded Bulldog into police custody for two weeks to enable the police conduct further investigations into the murder of Emmanuel Fennec Okyere.

This was after the court granted the prosecution's argument that the police needed more time to conduct further investigations. However, leading Lawyer for Bulldog, Gary Nimako rejected calls for his client to be remanded in police custody.

He argued that the charges leveled against his client (Bulldog) – conspiracy to commit murder and commit  murder cannot hold because the prosecution has not been able to link his client to Fennec’s murder.

Bulldog was arrested in public on Thursday afternoon May 15 in Kokomlemle, a suburb of Accra, as a prime suspect in the death of Fennec Okyere.

Bulldog, who has been accused for conspiracy in the murder of Fennec Okyere, the Manager of the controversial hiplife artiste, Kwaw Kesse, alias Abodam, looked well composed and told well-wishers, friends and family present in court to keep calm and that everything will be fine.

Some of the familiar faces present in court this morning included two members of newly reconstituted Hiplife group VVIP –Reggie Rockstone and Zeal (Formerly known as Lazzy), Bulldog’s father Mr. Hanson, Mr. Mensah father of dancehall artiste Shatta Wale among others.

Interestingly Shatta Wale himself was not seen anywhere near the court premises.

Nothing Wrong In Sleeping With Actress On Set—Movie Director

Nollywood director, Aniedi Awah Nova, has disclosed that there is no crime with a director having an affair with an actress.

According to the behind-the-scene man, the affair is always a mutual agreement because the people involved are adults. Except when it becomes aggressive, through cheap blackmail, then we can say it’s bad.

Aniedi added that as a director, if he finds any actress attractive, seeks her consent and she accepts, they are good to have an affair.

"Anybody can sleep with anybody anywhere in the world as far as it’s an agreeable venture. So, if I'm a director and I see an actress and I say I want to sleep with you and the actress agrees, I don't see anything  wrong with that," he said.

Isiaiah Ampong on the hand has also been alleged to have used the song “Hallelujah” on his latest album. Did Shatta Wale’s Manager Kill Kwaw Kesse’s Manager?

Since news broke last Thursday that the Police had arrested Nana Asiamah Hanson aka Bulldog, 36, in connection with the murder of Fennec Okyere, local showbiz circles have been abuzz with one question.

“Did Bulldog, who is the manager of prominent dancehall musician, Shatta Wale, kill Fennec Okyere, manager of popular rap musician Kwaw Kesse?”

Fennec Okyere was found dead in his house on Spintex Road in Accra on March 13 , 2014. His body was found in a pool of blood.

According to the Police, Bulldog was arrested last week after a two-month surveillance for the perpetrators of the alleged murder and has been in police custody “to assist with investigations”.

Speaking to the Daily Graphic last Thursday, the Director General of the CID, Commissioner of Police (COP ) Mr. Prosper Agblor, told the Daily Graphic that Bulldog is alleged to have threatened Fennec on several occasions through voice and text messages on phone.

He said investigations by the police established that Bulldog had several confrontations with Fennec and threatened to teach Fennec a lesson.

First Confrontation

Citing some of the instances, Mr. Agblor said on November 26, 2012, Bulldog had a confrontation with Fennec during a programme at the Accra International Conference Centre dubbed "Night with the Stars".

At the programme, organised by Joy FM, Kwaw Kesse stepped on a banner with the inscription: VIP, when he mounted the stage to perform. It was reported that Bulldog, who managed VIP, a music trio, was not happy and confronted Fennec over the issue.

Fennec, on the other hand, tried to explain but, according to reports, that explanation did not go down well with the suspect, who organised some men to chase Fennec and his group away from the programme.

Another Confrontation

Later, Mr. Ablorh said, investigations showed that during an entertainment discussion programme on Peace FM, during which both Fennec and Bulldog were interviewed, the suspect was offended by the answers provided by Fennec to questions from the host.

"After the programme, Bulldog called Fennec and threatened to send his boys after him to teach him a lesson and to get rid of him,” Mr. Agblor said.

The CID?Director General said Fennec retorted that, “the boys cannot do anything to him and that he could talk to them to calm down because he too has a group of boys he works with”.

Subsequently, the CID boss said, there were a series of threatening voice calls and text messages from unknown persons believed to be agents of the suspect. The police investigations also established that on March 12, 2014, Fennec received a call from an unknown caller.

Unfortunately, Fennec was found dead at his residence at Manet Gardens on the Spintex Road the next morning.

“Surprisingly, the suspect went into hiding after the murder of Fennec. The police monitored his house and other places, including entertainment shows, but he failed to show up,” Mr. Agblor said.

Expressions of Unbelief

But some pundits and observers of the showbiz scene in Ghana have expressed their doubts over allegations that Bulldog might have killed Fenec. Notable among them is George Quaye, who is the head of Media, Brands and Communication for Charterhouse.

Speaking on Peace Fm’s Entertainment Review on Saturday, George who used to be a working colleague of Bulldog said that even though Bulldog was an outgoing person and sometimes of a rather tough disposition, he did not believe that he could commit such a crime.

“I go way back with Bulldog and I admit that sometimes he can be rowdy, but the Bulldog I know is just ‘patapaa’ but will never raise his hand or fight.”

“I am not the Police and can’t do their kind of work because I don’t have their kind of expertise. I am talking about the Bulldog that I know and I believe that he is innocent.”

Mr. Socrate Safo of Movie Africa expressed similar sentiments of unbelief. He said that Bulldog and Fennec were not enemies.

“Many people do not know this, but I knew Fennec and Bulldog were working tireless to form an association for artistes’ managers but yet when they come on air, they behave differently. I have confidence that the Police Service will unravel the mystery behind Fennec’s death. That is what we all wish for now,” he stated.

One person, who was instrumental in the late Fennec’s life, Mrs. Ursula Owusu Ekuful, has added her voice to the issue. According to the Member of Parliament for Ablekuma West, the arrest of Bulldog could bring an end to Fennec’s death case. To her, the family was very happy that a suspect, who may have committed the murder, had been arrested.

But for Lawyer Kwame Akuffo, the arrest of Bulldog may not mean much. Citifmonline.com quotes him as saying: “I don’t think the gentleman should be a suspect at this stage. I think the gentleman is only a person of interest at this stage”.

Being a Lawyer with many years of experience, Lawyer Akuffo believes that threatening text messages and phone calls alone cannot be the basis on which someone could be termed a suspect.

Before the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ghana Police Service can hold Bulldog as the prime suspect, Lawyer Akuffo suggested that the Police should be able to link him to the crime scene by way of forensic test or conspiracy.

I Cannot Fake My Accent; It’s Real — Jeremie

Many listeners have said it behind radio presenter Jeremie Van-Garshong’s back that she fakes her accent whenever she is on air.

When Showbiz told her last Monday about what her critics are saying, she responded with a long laughter and revealed that she herself has received similar bashing.

“I cannot fake my accent, this is how I have been speaking when I was young and anyone who knows me can tell you. God has blessed me with this accent and I am happy to say my accent has taken me to a lot of places,” the 29 year-old radio presenter told Showbiz.

According to Jeremie, her command over the English language has given her the courage to interview international celebrities such as Ludacris, Trey Songz, Rick Ross, Keri Hilson, Bow Wow, Shontelle, T- Pain and Fabulous.

“Whenever I interview international celebrities, I feel like I’m speaking to my next door neighbour because I flow easily with them. I don’t feel intimated by their presence.

Jeremie started her radio career from Vibe Fm and later moved to YFM and after winning the hearts of many Ghanaians with her Y Lounge on YFM for five years, she moved to Live FM where she currently hosts the drive time show.

She is currently a brand ambassador for Malta Guinness and the Africa Rising Campaign Inspiring young people around Ghana and Africa and giving them an opportunity to share their inspirational stories with the rest of the world.
