Sarkodie, D-Black, Guru, Bisa Kdei Are Praising A False God Says Gospel Artist

sark_l

The recent trend which most Ghanaian songs by popular acts is to just take the name of  God and or call God in a different language such as Nyame, Baba, Mawu etc and drop a danceable beat to it and it becomes a gospel song which is contrary to christian norms says Ghanaian urban gospel artist Calvin Bill.
According to the gospel rapper/singer Calvin Bill, songs like Sarkodies “Adonai“, Bisa Kdei s  “Baba“, Gurus unorthodox “Amen”, “Mpaebo”, “Bonsam Ani”, cannot be labelled gospel songs because it doesn’t praise the christian God in any way.

“In every religion there is a belief of a supreme God or Baba and even the demons believe in a  God”. These are some of the words urban gospel artist Calvin Bill said when he was interviewed by the JC Cafe, a Ghanaian gospel group whose aim is to take the real Gospel to the streets.
So what then is a gospel song? The meaning of  gospel is good news about the life of Christ and his reason of dying for mankind so a gospel song is ministration about Jesus Christ and not just simply God calling in songs, so these secular artist end up misleading and deceiving the youth in believing they are Godly people when they just sheep’s in wolves skin.

"Adult Music Not Profane"

Highlife musician, Kwabena Kwabena, has for the first time opened up about the lyrics of his awarding ‘Adult Music’ hit song, saying there is nothing profane about the song.

Since its release in March 2013, ‘Adult Music’ has generated several debates among entertainment pundits and the general public as to whether it is an X-rated song.

But Kwabena Kwabena, who has been silent on the issue for over a year now, stated on NEAT FM’s Entertainment Ghana that the lyrics of the song were mostly based on metaphoric statements.

“I am very sad. With what is going on, people will think ‘Adult Music’ is a demonic song. It is sad. If you understand the Twi language very well, you will know that all I said in the song was just Twi.

With the ones that we thought could pose a problem, we used metaphors and moreover if you are an adult then you are an adult. Let’s promote love,” he stated.

According to the ‘Aso’ hitmaker, people concentrate a lot on the negatives in the arts instead of learning to love it.

“We should learn to love the art and stop how we are always looking for something negative. Even if something is 85 percent positive, we are only interested in the 15 percent which is negative.

Music is inspiration, and we all need to build a good entertainment environment so that we can enjoy,” he noted.

Adding “I think it is something we all need to work on, as a society, so we can have a different eye for the arts industry and see how best we can support rather than destroying the few talents that God has given us.”

‘Adult Music’ has gained so much popularity among lovers of highlife music. The song speaks about how wonderful lovemaking is.

Rev. Owusu Bempah Jabs Sonnie Badu Over “Adult Music”

sonnie-badu-wedding-9

Rev. Isaac Owusu Bempah, general overseer of Glorious Word Power Ministry International has chastised gospel musician Sonnie Badu for dancing to secular music “Adult Music” during his wedding ceremony with Ann-Marie last Saturday, August 23rd in Northumberland, London.
Speaking to Kwame Nkrumah ‘Tikese’, host of the ‘Ade Akye Abia’ morning show on Okay FM, the man of God stated that playing secular music in the house of God is against the word of God..
“A worldly song should not be played in the house of God. If a christian is marrying in the presence of God and pastors in a church premises, you cannot play child’s game there. No matter the status of the person in the society – whether pastor, musician or anybody, if you are getting married in the house of God, you should never play secular music” he stated.
Owusu Bempah further added that he would have ordered them to stop the music if he was the pastor officiating the wedding ceremony.
“If the song was played at an event after the wedding ceremony outside the church auditorium, it would not have been a problem. Even with secular songs there are stages in it. There are some songs which sends out a good message and others, otherwise.”
He continued;
“All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient. So if we say we are Christians, why should we play secular music in the house of God? It is not a good example.
I will never agree with anybody who plays a worldly song in the house of God where children of the Most High have gathered,” he stated.
Sonnie Badu who was answering a question posed to him by a fan on twitter asked the mistake he committed in dancing to the song “Adult Music” by Kwabena Kwabena which featured Samini.

I Can Sleep With Producers For Movie Roles - Actrees

A Nollywood actress, Tessy Oragwa, has spoken on the widely talked about affair for movie roles in Nollywood. The gap-toothed actress said it is a personal decision and should not be opened to criticism.

According to her, the issue happens in all sectors, but more pronounced in the entertainment industry because celebrities are in the eyes of many.

Tessy pointed out that as far as a woman is concerned, she will always be approached by guys and it will be left for her to make a choice of what to do.

“There is no discrimination about that, but don’t make it look like you are being harassed or forced to do what you do not want to do. You have a mind of your own and you are mature enough to take decisions,” she said.

The actress also denied ever having such experience, but admitted that any producer approaches her and he is good, she could agree just for fun. “No, I don’t think anybody would want to do such a thing to me. When you approach me and you are good, I might decide to take a decision and have my fun,” she declared.

Fuse ODG, Shatta Wale And E.L To Champion ‘Made of Black’ Campaign

Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited (GGBL) has launched a new and exciting campaign dubbed ‘Guinness Made of Black’.

The Pan African campaign was rolled out on August 27 through both Pan African and local media channels.
Led at the Pan African level by Ghanaian artiste Fuse ODG, the Guinness #madeofblack campaign celebrates Ghanaians who are not afraid to express themselves and who are carving their own path in life.
#madeofblack will provide a stage for them to showcase their flair and imagination and share their own #madeofblack attitude.

Fuse ODG will be joined by two of Ghana’s most celebrated artistes; Shatta Wale and E.L who will show how they are #madeofblack in short Selfie videos that will be available to view online.
These videos will then ask, “What are you made of?” to give people from across the country a chance to tell their story.

Commenting on the campaign, Fuse ODG said “Guinness is celebrating the individuals across Ghana who share the #madeofblack attitude. We’re asking real people who have a boldness that can’t be contained, to join the movement and tell us what they are made of at www.madeofblack.com.  I am made of passion, I am #madeofblack, what are you made of?  Share the attitude.  Leave your mark.”
Judith Osei Ampofo, Acting Marketing Director, GGBL said: “The Guinness #madeofblack campaign will showcase a cross section of real people and the true stories behind them. The creative ones, the entrepreneurs, the dancers, the singers, the artistes, the dreamers, the doers; people united by their shared attitude.

“#madeofblack is not about colour, it is an attitude that epitomises the individuals who aren’t afraid to express themselves. Guinness is an iconic beer that isn’t afraid to express itself either and only Guinness has the heritage, quality and uniqueness to bring this #madeofblack campaign to Ghana. We’re now counting down to the MTV Base Hour Black, which will take place on Wednesday 8th October celebrating everything, #madeofblack. So make sure you get involved and share your #madeofblack attitude.”

Ama K. Abebrese Partners Ghana Girl Guides Association To Fight Skin Bleaching

The Ama K. Abebrese Foundation, founded by bubbly actress Ama K. Abebrese, has partnered the Ghana Girl Guides Association (GGGA) to fight skin bleaching.

A formal, meet-and-greet event to concretise the relationship was held at the latter’s offices in Accra on Tuesday, where the actress interacted with members of the association.
Important in many ways, the relationship will see the Girls act as ambassadors of the ‘I Love My Natural Skin Tone’ campaign against skin bleaching, which is spearheaded by Ama.
Officials of the institution say they agreed to be part of the campaign because they saw in it, a useful social cause that must be supported.

They also added that it largely blended well with their “Free Being Me” campaign.
Several promotional efforts aimed at whipping up excitement and support for the campaign will go live in December, Ama K said.
“It’s a self-love campaign and not a judgmental one to point fingers,” she said.
“The aim is to inform as many girls as possible so partnering with GGGA which is already a big girls guide, will give the campaign more ambassadors apart from the celebs we have now to give it a bigger voice and reach across the country.”
She added that: “The rule to avoiding skin bleaching or toning is simple, when in doubt about the content of the cream, use natural shea butter or other products you are certain will not bleach your skin".
“And one thing many of the girls believe is that, when they are two or three shades lighter, they will be beautiful or look better in front of a camera but that is not true.
“The celebs ambassadors of the ‘I Love My Natural Skin Tone’ campaign will be supporting these girls from time to time whenever the need arises at their events, to give it the prominence it deserves.”
Talking more on the partnership, Mrs Alberta Mensah, of the Girl Guides Association said: “We are happy with this partnership and will put in all the efforts we can to project the message of not toning or bleaching their skins.

“And since it conforms with our own program “Free Being Me” we will use her and her ambassadors as mentors to create awareness.

“We will have a big walk, a talk and we are still planning more activities that will factor in this message of the girls being themselves in pursuing their goals without toning or bleaching.”
A successful campaign thus far, the ‘I love My Natural Skin Tone’ campaign has received great support nationwide.
In a sound and silent war against bleaching, it continues to push for women to embrace their natural skin tones.

Sarkodie: I Don't Support NPP Or NDC

When Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie released his latest track “Inflation” many people wondered if he was turning political.

In the track, the multiple-award winning artist was heard taking a swipe at President John Mahama and his government for neglecting their duties in times of economic hardship.

The rapper didn’t mince words and was tough and emotional in his delivery.

But speaking in an interview on BBC Focus on Africa Thursday, Sarkodie said he has no political allegiance neither was he engaging in any targeted political vilification.

According to him, he but was simply showing concern over the deteriorating living conditions of the ordinary Ghanaian.

“I am a citizen so when something hits me I think I have the right to talk about it. Same way music listeners can criticise me when I go wrong.”

Sarkodie believes there is no one better positioned to advocate for Ghanaians as he.

“I have a loud mouth to talk about it, I have platforms that when I release a song everybody is shaking, media men are talking about it and that’s the idea… when I do music, you always listen to it and it keeps reminding you.”

Asked if he wasn't satisfied with the many public assurances the President has given Ghanaians, the rapper said he would rather be presented with evidence of an economic turnaround.

“That speech is always gonna be there…if you ask me ‘what are you doing for Ghana music?’ I will always say ‘I’m trying to put it on the map’ but am I putting it on the map? That’s the question.”

Sarkodie said to the BBC his style of music has not changed.

According to him, he still makes tracks that get people dancing but if “there are serious cases that we need to address and I’m in the position to talk about and I have the chance of course I will.”

He strongly believes what Ghana needs right now is leadership not political divides.

“...don’t take it political because people think I am for a certain political party. But I was talking about all the other parties before him (JDM).”

“We don’t need parties, we need leadership,” he said.

Fashion Mistakes Women DESPISE About Men

It’s clear that women care more about how they dress than men do. A man’s lack of interest in his appearance can totally turn off a woman. Look guys, there are some mistakes that we can let slide, but some are down-right deal breakers. Here are some things you didn’t notice you were doing wrong, and maybe some you did but just didn’t notice the severity.

*Socks that don't match your outfit

Socks are more important than any man realizes. We'll visit this topic several times. You're on the way to your office, dressed in your finest suit, but under those paints you're hiding a pair of white calf-length Champions. (by the way, don't wear Champions, unless your prepubescent). Your orange argyle socks go perfectly with that lavender fitted shirt….right? Come on guys, pull it all together.

*Mismatched socks

One black with a green stripe, one black with a blue stripe. Sometimes, one white, one black. Seriously? You'd be surprised how often your socks show during the day. What about when you sit or cross your legs, those pants ride up and BAM: your one nike and one adidas are shown to the world…and people notice. All this shows is your laziness.

*Your idea of "dress up"

I'm sorry but putting on your golf shirt and your khakis is not dressing up. Neither is always resorting to Ralph and his reliable polos. Throw on a tie under a slight V-Neck and match with tailored slacks. Your girl doesn't "dress-up" in American Eagle jeans and a cable knit sweater does she (by the way if she does, say goodbye)?

*Socks with sandals:-

There's no description needed here. The classic sin most men make; Jesus would be disappointed.

*Short ties

I cannot emphasize the hideousness of a short tie. If that bad boy doesn't reach your belt, get ready to be made fun of at a party. You are making yourself look heavier. Either tie it correctly or don't shop in the boys section.

*Untailored suits

I understand it is very expensive to have a tailored suit, however I do believe every man should try and have one. But seeing a man in a suit that is clearly not his size tells me one of two things: a. you borrowed this because you're cheap; b. you're an idiot.

*Not refreshing your wardrobe

This is one of the biggest mistakes men make; you wear the same clothes year after year. While this is great because you're not spending a lot of money, it becomes embarrassing. If your friends know every shirt you have, or can predict what you're going to wear, you've got problems. Purchase five or less items a month; it'll save money but expand your wardrobe quicker than you think. Not caring about your clothes shows females you probably don't care about much.

*Type casting yourself

Basically, don't wear the same style all the time. I hate to bring up Ralph again, but don't only wear Polo or only one color, or that guy who only wears argyle. Because it's boring. It's so boring. And thats how women will take it.

*Holes and rips

It's not okay to wear a tee shirt with a hole in it, or a sock, or those pants that are too long and are frayed on the bottom. Because we will stare at it. And become obsessed with it.

*Fishing shirts

Oh wow did you just go fishing?" "No." "Oh, so you're just a complete tool?"

*No belts

Do you enjoy pulling your pants up all day? I didn't think so.

*Matchy matchy

This goes for all ages, all sexes. Matchy Matchy is hideous! Socks with a tie is golden, but additives are ridiculous. Don't match the belt, the pocket square, the shirt, and so on. You're spending so much time putting this outfit together just to get made fun of.

Undershirts

Know when to wear one and when to not. Don't wear a wife beater with a white button down. Don't wear crew neck undershirts with a V-Neck. There are so many ways to screw this up. As much as you might hate the idea, stick with a slight V-Neck undershirt. You'll still get the comfort and protection but not the ugly bacon wrinkled collar hanging out.

M.anifest Almost Became A ‘Watchman’…

Award-winning rapper and songwriter, M.anifest on the ‘Hanging Out With KOD ‘ show over the weekend, revealed that when he was young, he wanted to become a watchman because he thought the watchman job was cool but he later found out that they aren’t paid that much.

He later went through different stages wanting to be a number of things; from being a pilot to a doctor and then to his father’s profession, lawyer, but never thought of becoming a musician.

Unlike most Ghanaian musicians who played for typical Ghanaian communities when they go abroad, M.anifest usually plays for different audience altogether. He recently went on a-three- week tour with Damon Albarn thrilling thousands with his electrifying performances. Paris, Poland, Berlin, Hamburg, Belgium, Barcelona, Switzerland were few of the places he toured. He revealed that the tour was such a thrilling one, amazing and a tour that he really exported Ghana to the rest of the world.

On how he treats negative vibes, he said, ”I’ve a very good sense of humour so I just laugh if off when I hear such things or when my fans on social media particularly on Facebook blast me. I just see it as something worthwhile taking a lesson from and through all these; I’ve developed a very thick skin. Lastly, I focus on whatever I planned doing so as not to be destructed by such negative vibes”.

When not in the studio writing or recording a song, M.anifest enjoys watching movies as well as watching reality shows and to this end M.anifest revealed that he has been selected as the third judge
for this year’s Vodafone Icons Remix Edition. He revealed that he really admires Lauryn Hill, Yvonne Chaka Chaka, and Naughty by Nature so much.

M.anifest lived in the States for 10 years before deciding to come back home. Not long after his return, M.anifest has become a household name and a force to reckon with in the industry with some awards such as VGMA Rapper of the Year 2013, Hip Hop Song of the Year 2013, 4stye Best Hiphop Music Video to his credit.

M.anifest cautioned Ghanaian musicians not to be seen as public toys, he said, ”Being a public toy, one won’t be respected that much and one will even get broke early in life”.

Rapper M.anifest, on the challenges facing the Ghanaian music industry, cited the lack of a big auditorium for events as well as not being paid royalties as some few examples. He had the following words of motivation for his fans and the rest of the world, – being sincere, being committed in life, being passionate, one must be curious and lastly see beyond today and also see beyond limitations.

MAFIKIZOLO Set To Rock Accra Come October 18

'Khona' hit makers, Mafikizolo, are one of Africa's most celebrated Afro-pop bands to yearn listening to and watching perform.

Made up of lead singer and composer Nhlanhla Sibongile Mafu Nciza and songwriter/composer/singer Theo Kgosinkwe, Mafikizolo, originally, had three members but colleague rapper Tebogo Benedict Madingoane died in 2004 in a gun attack.

Their song, ‘Khona’, has been on virtually everyone’s lips – even children – since it was released in 2013. One of the most played radio songs, it is the one song people look forward to hearing and dancing to at concerts, even if the original singers were not available to perform it live.

Mafikizolo’s style of music is influenced by a genre called Kwela.

It has been described as kwaito-cum-marabi house music.

Their music deals with pertinent social issues such as abuse against women and children, poverty, the importance of education and the dangers of casual sex.

People easily fall in love with their syncopated rhythmic drumbeat sound, which distinguishes them from all others.

With a group like Mafikizolo featuring at the forthcoming Hennessy Artistry concert, all you can do is let yourself go, grab a drink and dance your brains out!

The Hennessy artistry concert comes to Ghana on the 18th of October at the Accra International conference center and is brought to you by Hennessy, Starr 103.5 FM and Empire Entertainment.

Comment: Is Sarkodie Pretending To Love Shatta Wale?

Before you start reading this article, know that we at Qillaghana.blogspot.com are not in any way to tarnish the image of Sarkodie; instead this is our opinion that we would love to share with Ghanaians. Besides, everyone has the freedom to his or her opinion.

Well, as a media person and a passionate promoter of good music, I have been studying the best African Hip-hop artiste for this year and BET Award winner, Michael Owusu Addo, well-known as Sarkodie since he joined the industry.

His attitude, lifestyle, lyrical contents and above all, his musical strategy; for over some years now, I have come to the conclusion that Sarkodie is the most strategic artiste in Ghana. No wonder he’s been the master key of Ghanaian rap music for a long period even before the Dancehall commando, Shatta Wale came into the picture.

An investigation I conducted on Sarkodie proves particularly that he has a major reason behind his all of a sudden deep love for the leader of Shatta Movement, Shatta Wale, hence that the unknown reason to the public is why I think he’s pretending to appreciate and love Shatta Wale this much.

That ‘unknown’ Reason

Sarkodie started his music career in Tema, community 9 and as a studio rat; he used to move from one studio to the other with R2bees, Dr. Cryme, Stay Jay, Yaa Pono, and Yaw Siki and among other established artistes in Tema you know.

Frankly speaking, he got massive support from the Refuse to be broke Nation (R2Bees), which aided him to penetrate through the Ghanaian music industry with his first single, ‘Baby’ featuring Mugeez, a member of the music group. By then, R2bees were the talk of the town and the best musical group to be precise.

Few months after the release of Sarkodie’s first hit single, he dogged most of his Tema folks he started the musical journey with from the scratch and began rolling with the musical group, Skillions; E.L., Jay Soe, Joey B, Stargo, Jay Town, Scientific and the likes, until Bra Kevin, a member of the group then tremendously overthrew R2Bees with his hit song, ‘Three headed beast’.

Sarkodie got the chance to spread his lyrical vibes to some parts of West Africa when he featured E.L of Skillions, with his second hit song, ‘You go kill me’. After his second hit song, which derived the slogan, ‘You know say money no bi problem’, hardly would you hear any collaborations of Sarkodie with the artistes from Tema, especially, those he began his music career with.

This strategy made him an ungrateful and a hypocrite personality in the sight of most Artistes in Tema. Sarkodie, since then, had won a couple of awards and has been the mighty name we know, when it comes to rap and Ghanaian music in general before the Dancehall commando took over.

Apparently, Shatta Wale is the talk of the town in Ghana so who doesn’t know Shatta Wale? Even, my 2years old nephew can with no difficulties ‘rap’ most of his songs from A to Z. And all of sudden the fastest rapper is in love with the Dancehall commando.

What happened to R2bees and skillion? Hmmm! Just last year, Sarkodie did a mix-tape, which he attributed to ‘Shatta Wale’.

‘…Sha Shatta Wale! Huh! Sha Shatta Wale! Huh!..’ lyrics in the songs. Remember that song?

It didn’t end there; Sarkodie also managed to earn a feature on Shatta Wale’s ‘Dancehall Commando’ song after which the fastest rapper invited Shatta to his family house in Tema community nine just a few months ago.

Recently he released one of his latex songs which created a little misunderstanding between him and some section of the media, ‘Free Press’ after his new ‘lover’, Shatta Wale made a statement that, “Ghanaian media is the most foolish I’ve ever seen in my life.”

Now, here’s the paragraph where I share my Opinion.

Sarkodie has come to realize that; Shatta Wale is progressing in the music industry due to his negative deeds ; hence, there’s no day that you won’t read bad stories about him; today he diss Samini, tomorrow he insults Charter House, and it goes on and on. And will always go on because that’s Shatta wale’s strategy he normally uses to earn attention.

Now, if you’ve been following Sarkodie from Adam, you will realize that, the humble and calm Sarkodie we use to know has changed ever since he started mingling with the Dancehall Commando artiste.

I can boldly say that, all this while, Sarkodie has been faking to love Shatta Wale because, you and I know he’s not massively embraced and influential as he use be on the ghetto youth in Ashaiman, Fadama, Newtown, Nima, Zongo and most of the Islamic communities, ever since Shatta Wale took over the industry.

He is, therefore, pretending to love Shatta Wale just as he did to R2bees and Skillions to earn grounds and followers at the aforementioned Islamic areas and will soon ditch Shatta if he pulls out a hit song to win the Artiste of the year award for next year, 2015.

This has been Sarkodie’s smart strategy since Adam to maintain his position as the best artiste in Ghana. He gets close to you; he pretends to love you, learns a few strategies he can use in knowing your weakness about you, collaborate with you to gain a hit song and ditches you later on.

I know 60 percentage of Sarkodie’s diehard fans will raise an attack against me after reading this, thinking I hate him, but I’m a reporter and it’s my job to report what I’ve been investigating for some years now.

Now my advice to Sarkodie; he must know that some percentage of his fans love him because he’s calm and humble. Now, if he should convert his branding to that of Shatta Wale, who always creates misunderstanding between some artistes, the media and show organizers, he might lose some of his fans.

Already, his new song ‘Free Press’ has made him loose the respect he uses to earn from some section of the Ghanaian media.

As for Shatta Wale, I think Sarkodie is close to accomplishing his mission after earning his love because, Sarkodie’s new song ‘Inflation’ has caught the nation’s attention now, and I’m sure he will soon be sweeping awards with that great song.
